Shashank M. Nambiar, Ph.D.

Postdoctoral Researcher

Shashank M. Nambiar (Ph.D.) is a postdoctoral research fellow in Dr. Verma's laboratory. Before this, he completed his undergraduate studies in Pune, India. Following his undergraduate studies, he pursued his Master's and Doctorate degrees under the mentorship of Dr. Guoli Dai at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis. His graduate thesis research was focused on understanding the adaptations of the maternal liver during pregnancy and the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying these adaptive changes. An understanding of these hepatic adaptive changes is important to gain valuable insights into treating pregnancy-associated maternal liver diseases.

In Dr. Verma's laboratory, Shashank's research aims to understand how the condition of chronic inflammation, inflammation, induced by various means such as environmental toxin exposure or clonal hematoopoiesis, leads to the development of prostate cancer. Elucidating the molecular regulators underlying this process could help identify therapeutic targets for prostate cancer.

Outside the lab, Shashank enjoys trekking, swimming, and watching documentaries.
